I think the media just tried it, just in case.

I think the movie suffers from melodramatic moments, escpecially when Holden and Kelly finally kiss. This moment could have been better but the build-up to that moment is well done, for me.Fritzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03291268052797806635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4953387045812787281.post-36331085341403602382011-02-25T04:17:39.182+01:002011-02-25T04:17:39.182+01:00A long and well written review Fritz.
I agree th...A long and well written review Fritz.

I agree that her win being a huge surprise does come partially from modern interpretation. I think many older years are misinterpreted especially 1950 with Judy Holiday. It would seem Garland still was favored though by certain reactions after her loss which were of the time, and the fact of the press ready for her hospital acceptance speech.

I agree with a lot of what you have said. But one aspect of her performance I must disagree with is the romance with Holden's character. The film and both actors did nothing to stop that from feeling incredibly tacked on.Louis Morganhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07933180959140340196noreply@blogger.com
